The Friday 56 – The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini

The Friday 56 is a weekly meme hosted over at Freda’s Voice. The rules are simple and go something like this.

Friday 561.  Grab a book, any book.
2.  Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader (If you have to improvise, that’s ok.)
3.  Find any sentence, (or a few, just don’t spoil it)
4.  Post it.
5.  Add the post url, not your blog url to the Linky.
6. Tweet it #Friday56 (not an official Freda’s Voice rule)

The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini has been on my TBR for years now and I challenged another booktuber that if he read Children of Blood and Bone I would read The Kite Runner. He took me up on said challenge and now I MUST read The Kite Runner. So, I will be reading it in the month of January.

Baba smoked his pipe talked. I pretended to listen. But I couldn’t listen, not really, because Baba’s casual  little comment had plated a seed in my head: the resolution that I would win that winter’s tournament. I was going to win. There was no other viable option. I was going to win, and I was going to run that last kite. Then I’d bring it home and show it to Baba. Show him once and for all that his son was worthy.

 The Kite Runner pg. 56

Have you read it? If so, what did you think?

If it wasn’t for a challenge, I probably still would be putting it off.

I love your idea of swapping books as a challenge! Sounds like fun. The Kite Runner has been on my TBR for … way too long, I confess. xD I keep meaning to read it and haven’t yet. I love that snippet, though. I hope you enjoy it!

    Here’s my Friday post.

Love this book. It broke my heart in so many ways. But the story is unforgettable. I keep telling my self I’m going to reread but I somehow never can. Hope you like it!
