☕️Weekend Coffee Share☕️

Hello! Hello! Hello!

Come on in, grab a cuppa, a snack, and pull up a chair. I hope everyone had a great week! Let’s hop right on in to this week’s coffee share.

If we were having coffee. . .

I’d say where in the heck has the year gone.

25 days till Turkey Day, that is if you live in the U.S. and celebrate this time-honored tradition of shoveling exorbitant amounts of food in your mouth. It is one day to say, “to hell with that diet” and not feel guilty. In theory, that is.

Anyway, back to the numbers: 50 days til the Fat Man shimmies down the chimney and 58 til we make new resolutions that we won’t keep. Cynical much, Erica? Um, yeah. A little bit.

This time of year is actually my least favorite. It’s not for the reasons most people think. I’m not lonely. I’ve got plenty of family and friends. I’m not sad or depressed. For me this time of year is frustrating. Planning Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas shopping, considering staying awake to usher in the New Year – which by the way I can no longer do because I’m getting old and actually need 8 hours of sleep.

So, yeah I’m perfectly happy having a

but my mom wants a semi proper Thanksgiving dinner. I already told her I’m not fixing a turkey and she’s okay with that, but my dad is pouting. I told him if he wants one he’s going to have to fix it.

  • Baked Chicken
  • Candied Yams
  • Green Beans with Bacon or Brussel Sprouts with Bacon
  • Cornbread Dressing (which she is going to make)
  • Cranberry sauce from a can
  • Buttermilk Biscuits (yes from scratch)

I haven’t quite settled on a desert yet. Any suggestions?

What are you having for Thanksgiving?

If we were having coffee. . .

I’d tell you that I’m participating in National Blog Posting Month. Not here, but on my short story blog – Inkslinger. I would love it you stopped by and let me know what you think. The goal is to post every day in November and I thought this was the perfect time to try to bring that blog back to life.

If we were having coffee. . .

I’d also tell you that my reading life will change next year because I’ll be back in school. I’m already planning way to incorporate school reading into the blog.

One change that’s coming and actually has already begun is, I will no longer create monthly or yearly TBRs. I have done them for years and for the first month or two everything is peachy; then it crashes and burns. So no more of that. Last month was my first month reading without the stress of a TBR and I loved it and I got a lot more reading done. Yippee!!

Next year I’d like to read all the works by the Brontë sisters and Jane Austen. That’s 15 novels and I’d also like to read some of their juvenilia writings. If you’re interested in joining me let me know. I’ll post a reminder in December.

Well, I’ve talked long enough. Thanks for stopping by and please let me know how your week has gone and what are some of your upcoming plans.

The Weekend Coffee Share is hosted over at Eclectic Alli. Link up and see what others are up to.

“Inkslinger” I LOVE THAT NAME! It’s a totally awesome name for a blog! That’s just perfect. Best of luck with your writing.
I didn’t grow up celebrating any holidays. Now I just enjoy them, feeling grateful that I have people I love in my life. Thanks for the coffee! Sorry I showed up late. It was a busy weekend.

I’m with Erika on the whole how late to stay up. If I get a kiss from my wife, then okay. But now that I think about it, I could also be tempted to stay up later to chat about books with Erika or someone else as literate as her. Books and good conversation will do that to me. Thanks for the visit Erika.

I’ll likely take green bean casserole to my sister’s like I usually do, then host Thanksgiving here for my inlaws, it will just be the four of us, so nothing too stressful. I too, cannot believe where this year has gone.. Thanks for the coffee!

I totally get what you’re saying about the holidays and stress, even if it isn’t loneliness or a family crisis. Why do all these traditions seem to take so much of the joy away from the holidays? This year my husband and I are leaving the country the second and third week of December, and I couldn’t be more excited. But still there will be lots to do before we go. And don’t even get me started on Thanksgiving. I love the “coffee” post idea, and good luck with your other blog!
