What’s on your Spring TBR

I have a love/hate relationship with Spring. I love it because Winter has broken and Spring is usually just the right temperature. You know not to cold and to not hot. And in one word I hate Spring because of the dreaded Allergies; which by the way I have already succumb to.

Most of the books on this list will be read for one of the challenges I’ve been pretty lackadaisical about. Without further adieu here are my top 10 Spring reads.

1. Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami – This is one of the first books I put on my list to diversify my reading. It’s been on my TBR for at least 7 years.

2. Coraline by Neil Gaiman – I’m a super mood reader. I started reading this before my surgery in November and well after the surgery just wasn’t in the mood for it anymore. So, I’m going to knock this 162 page behemoth out-of-the-way.

3. The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven by Sherman Alexie – I chose this book so I could break up my reading over the course of the month. I got the idea from Lalia @bigreadinglife and I thought it was pretty ingenious.

4. Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie – I bought this book years ago and carried it with to and from work for days, but instead of reading on my daily commute I did the sensible thing and slept.

5. Macbeth (Hogarth Shakespeare) by Jo Nesbo – I’ve been trying to get an ARC of this for a while now through Goodreads and each time I haven’t been selected. Anyway, it comes out April 5th and I plan on getting a copy then. It’s part of the Hogarth Shakespeare series in which they have different authors retell one of Shakespeare’s plays. And it just seems fitting that Nesbo would retell Macbeth.

6. Nineteen-Eighty Four by George Orwell – This book has been on and off my TBR for years. I had planned on reading 1984 a little later in the year for the Back to Classics challenge, but that’s not going to happen. I decided to participate in the Classics Club Spin Challenge and guess what it was lucky #3, so now I have to read it by the end of April. *Heavy Sigh*

7. Everything Here is Beautiful by Mira T. Lee – An ARC I received from Netgalley, which I started reading but didn’t finished because a newer more shiny book came on the scene. I really need to finish because I did enjoy what I read so far.

8. I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou – So, I’m really ashamed to admit how long this has been in my TBR pile. I’ve definitely had it the longest of any other book on this list. I

9. How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents by Julia Alvarez – I can’t remember how long this has been on my TBR. At least six years. I originally purchased it as an eBook for $1.99.

10. One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez – This book has been on my TBR for at least two years maybe three. I’ve already read a couple Garcia-Marquez books and I’m looking forward to this, even though I’ve heard it’s a slog.
