Wednesday’s Lyrics – Am I Wrong by Nico & Vinz

According to iTunes I downloaded this song in August of 2014. My sister turned me on to it and when I heard it I knew I had t have it. Since then I don’t have a clue how many times I’ve played it, but it’s one of the most played songs in my playlist.

This song is like my personal anthem. And it validates my thought process that it’s okay to think outside the box and choose another way and do what everyone else is doing. I have always been that way and I have always been criticized about it. But I have never liked following the crowd.

As Oscar Wilde says:

Be yourself; everyone is already taken

Am I Wrong by Nico & Vinz

Oh, oh
Am I wrong for thinking out the box from where I stay?
Am I wrong for saying that I choose another way?

I ain’t tryna do what everybody else doing
Just ’cause everybody doing what they all do
If one thing I know, I’ll fall but I’ll grow
I’m walking down this road of mine, this road that I call home Continue reading

Wednesday’s Lyrics – Rise Up by Andra Day

I work part-time at Barnes and Noble and usually there is some music playing in the background. This song came on and I was instantly mesmerized by singers sultry voice. After hearing it a few times at the bookstore and on the radio I was singing the lyrics.

The video is a little depressing, but it definitely gets across the meaning of rising up against odds.

And as always if you’d like to share some of your favorite lyrics and why, pingback to this post.

Wednesday’s Lyrics – Dance With My Father by Luther Vandross

I’m a huge Luther Vandross and I miss his velvety voice. When this song came out back in 2003 it was on my rotation. Not sure why because my father was then and is still alive, but the reality is that I know when he does pass I’m going to want one more or two or three more dances with my father.

Dance with my Father” by Luther Vandross

Back when I was a child
Before life removed all the innocence
My father would lift me high
And dance with my mother and me
And then
Spin me around ’till I fell asleep
Then up the stairs he would carry me
And I knew for sure
I was loved  Continue reading

Wednesday’s Lyrics – “Wake Me Up” by Aloe Blacc

Wednesday’s Lyrics is back for a new and exciting 2016!

“Wake Me Up” by Avicii feat. Aloe Blacc is one of my favorite songs. I mean really how many of us have felt this way or told ‘you’ll understand when you’re older’ or how many of you are still finding yourself and holding on to  your hopes and dreams. Yes, we’ve all been there and perhaps are there today.

Guided by a beating heart
I can’t tell where the journey will end
But I know where to start
