Wednesday’s Lyrics – Same Love by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

Wednesday’s Lyrics is back!

I’m kind of addicted to Macklemore’s “Downtown” and as I was YouTube searching I came across an interview with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis on the Ellen Degeneres show and they were talking about a song called “Same Love.”

So, I did a YouTube search for that and thought about a friend of mine who just last week told me he and his longtime boyfriend were getting married. I was so happy to hear it. “It’s about time,” was my response. Continue reading

Top Ten Book To Movie Adaptations I’m Looking Forward To or Ten Book To Movie Adaptations I Still Need To Watch

I’m always a little slow on the uptake when it comes to the latest movies perhaps it’s because I rarely watch TV or maybe it’s because I refuse to pay those astronomical ticket prices for something I’m sure I’ll wish I had my money back less than halfway throughout the movie or perhaps it’s because Hollywood keeps recycling the same old tired crap or maybe it’s all the above.

Having said that there are a handful of movies I’d like to see that began their humble beginnings as books.

  1. The Lovely Bones
  2. The Fault in Our Stars
  3. The Perks of Being a Wallflower
  4. Gone Girl
  5. One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest
  6. Lord of the Flies
  7. The Giver
  8. To Kill a Mockingbird

Now mind you although I’d like to see the movie, I shall haven’t read the books, and I refuse to see the movie before I’ve read the book. It’s a rule of mine. It’s rather psychosomatic I know. I feel if the movie is crap than there’s a good chance the book will be too and won’t read it. But I could be wrong.

As I was compiling my NaBloPoMo reading list, I wanted to make sure it was as diverse. I was acquainted with Gabriel Garcia Marquez from One Hundred years of Solitude, but had never read any of his other works. Memories of My Melancholy Whores popped up during my search for novellas by Spanish authors. I read the description and was quite intrigued.

The narrator as well as his “love” go unnamed. Marquez is very descriptive to the point where you can feel yourself lying naked in a hammock in the sweltering heat. One of my favorite descriptions is on one occasion that he meets her. Continue reading
