The Friday 56 – My Soul to Keep by Tananarive Due

The Friday 56 is a weekly meme hosted over at Freda’s Voice. The rules are simple and go something like this.

Friday 561.  Grab a book, any book.
2.  Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader (If you have to improvise, that’s ok.)
3.  Find any sentence, (or a few, just don’t spoil it)
4.  Post it.
5.  Add the post url, not your blog url to the Linky.
6. Tweet it #Friday56 (not an official Freda’s Voice rule)

I am currently reading My Soul to Keep by Tananarive Due

Rosalie.

She’d been at home in their apartment the whole time, she and Rufus, and his wife, Christina, while he was at the club making music. Then he’d left after the Searchers came. Just left, unquestioning, the way he’d been instructed long before, after taking his vow of Life.

And he’d killed her. Killed Rosalie. Crushed her face. Pressed the pillow hard even when her instincts willed her to fight against him to breathe. He’d killed her just as he’d killed so many before her, and would surely kill so many after.

My Soul to Keep pg. 56

Have you read it? If so, what did you think?

Stay safe and Happy reading! And, don’t forget to check out my Booktube channel.

Wow. That’s quite an excerpt! It gave me the chills–it’s so scary. I haven’t read anything by Tananarive Due before, but this definitely tempts me to give her work a try. I hope you are enjoying it! Have a great weekend, Erica!
