It’s that time again! Time for The Classics Club Spin #20. I was on pins and needles the last Spin, hoping the number picked would be a book I was anxious to read. So, here we are again and the nerves are settling in AGAIN. 🙀
How does the Spin work? It’s as easy as 1-2-3. Really. Choose 20 books from your Classics Club list that you have yet to read and post the list to your blog before Monday, April 22nd.
All you have to do is read the book that corresponds to the number and review it by May 31st, 2019. Seriously, can it get any easier?
I kind of cheated a bit this go round. I selected 10 books and 5 of them are 2019 priority reads, so they show in the list 3 times (only trying to pad the odds).

I have an “I cheated” list too! 15 books from my list and then 5 from a different classics challenge I do that has many crossovers with this one. But I have my list sort of planned out so that I can spread my thick books over the five years. Good luck and I hope you get one you love!

You can’t go wrong with this list. I have read most of the books here and they are all good. Happy spinning!

The House of the Spirits is wonderful! I still haven’t read 100 Years of Solitude, but I liked Love in the Time of Cholera and I also loved Chronicle of a Death Foretold by Garcia Marquez. TKAM is also one of my all-time favorites. And there’s nothing wrong with repeats in your list if you want to narrow the field! Good luck with your spin pick!

It looks like you’ve stacked the deck for Invisible Man–and it’s a great one so why not! Hope you get that. Though Jane Eyre…you know maybe I should reread Jane Eyre myself, hmm…

I do not ever plan to read One Hundred Years of Solitude, so best wishes with that one! Some of the others are great titles, though — oh look we both have the Plague on our lists, although I’ve got it as #2. I vote for …The Woman Warrior!

I’ve only read one other book by Marquez and enjoyed it. So, we shall see. I read The Woman Warrior in high school some 20+ years ago, so I’m interested to see what I think about it now compared to then.

So many great titles, but at this time, I would go for The Screwtape Letters.
You mentioned the #11 on my list. Your 11 is by Allende. I have never read anything by her, but a member of my book club loves her a lot. Good luck!

I started reading The Screwtape Letters a couple years ago, but never finished. Not sure why. Would definitely be happy with that one. Allende’s House of the Spirits has been on my TBR for about 4 years. Every year I put on my TBR and every year it never gets read. Even if th he number selected doesn’t correspond to it it will get read for another challenge this year.

Ah, To Kill A Mockingbird holds a special place in my heart! But C.S. Lewis is one of my favourite authors. So hard to choose! I hope you get the book that you want!

I would really want #7, Jane Eyre because it’s one of my all time favs and I haven’t read it in a while. But I really need to get to the ones that are listed multiple times as they have been on my TBR for years and I’ve never read them.
