Like last year, this year is about knocking books off my ever-growing TBR pile. At least, in theory. And like last year not acquiring more books is oh so elusive.
I can’t believe 3 months of 2019 have passed already. That’s 25% of the year or if you want to get technical its. . .
24.38%
89 Days
2,136 hours

When you break it down and do a little quiet contemplation or reflection, you may wonder, ‘Where did the time go?’ or ‘What have I accomplished?’ Well, at least that’s what I did. And, I’m sad to say, I didn’t get as much reading done as I had hoped.
So, let’s take a look at what I accomplished/didn’t accomplish during the first 3 months of 2019.

Books Read January – March
I started way more books than I finished. So far this year I’ve only read 4 books. 😔 I got really excited and started a bunch of books and quickly got overwhelmed and fell behind. So, I’m going to revert to actively reading 2 books at a time. One long read (500+ pages) and one shorter. And I’m going to have to try harder to read what’s on my TBR
What I read
- Binti by Nnedi Okorafor (RW)
- My Sister, the Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite (RW)
- A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry (RW / BC)
- We by Yevgeny Zamyatin (TBR / BC)
DNF’d
- Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achabe (TBR / BC / CC)
- No Exit by Taylor Adams (CofC)
- House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski
**Legend: Reading Women Challenge (RW) // Back to Classics (BC) // TBR Pile (TBR) // Calendar of Crime (CofC)

Challenge Update
This year I tried my best to limit the number of reading challenges. Mind you the operative word is TRIED. I officially have 6 challenges going on, but I tried to be smart about them, which means some quite a few books will overlap challenges.
- Back to Classics – Read 3/12; DNF 1
- Calendar of Crime – Read 0/12; DNF 1
- Reading Women Challenge – Read 3/12
- TBR Pile Challenge – Read 1/12; DNF 1
By the Numbers
Books Read in September: 4
DNF: 3
Pages Read YTD: 744
My Sister, the Serial Killer is on my TBR for April. I am really excited to get to that one. It sounds like such an interesting read.

I’ve been dying to read Binti! Also your Reading Women Challenge sounds super cool – I’m terrible with reading challenges but that sounds like one I could definitely give a try.
Love your blog!
