☕️Weekend Coffee Share☕️

Hello! Hello! Hello!

Come on in, grab a cuppa, a snack, and pull up a chair. I hope everyone had a great week! Let’s hop right on in to this week’s coffee share.

If we were having coffee. . .

I’d tell that last was pretty hectic. Last Saturday I went white water rafting. Had a BLAST! I fell out of the raft on the first rapid. Our guide said it was a class 3. Yeah right! He soooo lied! It was definitely closer to a 5. I termed it the class 3++. I sucked in more water and single-celled organisms that day than I have in all my other rafting trips combined.

Since rafting I’ve been super sore and stiff. I got home Sunday night around 1 a.m. and had to turn around and go to work Monday, albeit in the afternoon. By Wednesday my body had had enough and it took all of my energy to get out of bed. Thank goodness Friday was my day off and I slept until around noonish. It felt so good. I have to remember that I’m not a twenty-something anymore and I need a vacation to recuperate from my vacation.

If we were having coffee. . .

I’d tell you that I am so behind on my June reading. Everyday after work I have come home and crashed. Because I worked an early shift on Thursday my plan was to stop and get a salad on the way home from work, take a nap and do some reading. And, how’d that work out?

Eat salad. ✅
Take a nap. ✅
Read a little. ❌

It took everything I had to climb the stairs and plop into bed. At one point it felt like my little plastic fork with lettuce weighed a ton. And I ‘napped’ for about 5 hours.

Anyway, back to my June reading. So far it’s a major fail. I just haven’t felt like reading, which is a bummer because I thought I was on an upward trajectory. The only thing I’ve read is a little of Plato’s Republic, which is NOT on my June TBR. Check out my Friday 56 post about how that came about.

I’ve done a little reading soul searing and do believe I’ve figured out why these reading slumps keep happening and why I’ve started and not finished more books than I care to admit. I’ll talk more about that in my soon to be resurrected Discussion post on Monday. So, stay tuned!

If we were having coffee. . .

I’d tell you I’m still waiting to hear something from the 4-H job I applied for. Fingers, eyes, legs, arms and anything else I can  cross are crossed. I’m still applying for jobs. As the saying goes:

Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.

Well, I’ve talked long enough. Thanks for stopping by and please let me know how your week has gone and what are some of your upcoming plans.

  1. It sounds like you’re living life to the fullest this summer. That’s awesome! Best of luck with your 4H job. I worked as a group leader for them one summer 15 years ago, or so. It was lots of fun.

  2. Glad that despite the soreness and the mouthfuls of single-celled organisms ingested by repeated dunking in the river that you had a good time white water rafting 😉 Plato’s Republic? Decided to go with something light, I take it. Actually it all comes down to translation. I once tried to read it and found it the most boring jumble of words imaginable. I tried again a year later but with a different translation and loved it!

I hope you get some energy back and get back into your reading! Have a great week.

Wishing you luck to get a job you like ! Xx and hopefully that reading slump will resolve itself and stay at bay for a while.
