Friday Fictioneers

I haven’t done a Friday Fictioneers post in a long time and I’m not sure I’ve ever done one here. I had mentioned in an earlier post that I would start sharing some writing, but that never happened. Well, until now. I was inspired by another blogger and a picture. So, here we are. I hope you enjoy!

The ground was hard and cold. As Marie dug she noticed how low the icicles hung from the dead branches. Icy daggers, she thought. Waiting for an unsuspecting victim.

“George come help me.”

He wrenched himself from his perch, took hold of the shovel, scooped up some icy dirt and threw it over his shoulder. Suddenly, something warm pierced his side. He looked down and saw a fresh stream of blood pouring from his chest.

Falling against the tree, he knocked the icy daggers lose.

“Sorry George,” Marie said. “It wouldn’t have worked. They never do.”

Well now… that was a tad drastic!

What were they digging in the first place? A grave would be appropriate!

Friday Fictioneers is always fun. Seems there are a lot of murders every week – what’s with us writers 😉 I’m glad you could join!

Dare I say we may be cynics. I have very few flash fiction pieces in which the a character doesn’t die. I think next year as part of my blog overhaul I’m going to continue doing Friday Fictioneers. We’ll see.

I do aim for happy endings on occasion. Maybe not Disney, sappy endings, but not bad either. I hope you do continue and hit as many as you can 🙂

    Dear Erica,

Icicles leave no fingerprints. Although murder seems a little drastic. It seems that just breaking up would’ve been enough. 😉

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

Yeah I sat for a minute trying to figure out if I wanted kill someone and if so who. But I guess for Marie there is no such thing as breaking up.
